Seasons Artwork!

At the end of last term we were talking about the change of season and Mrs Bickley's Seasons Song. 

The song goes:

Summer, Autumn, Winter, Spring,

Round and round and round again.

Seasons come and seasons go,

Bring the sunshine, rain and snow.

Tell the trees to change their leaves, 

When to sleep and when to grow.

We did some artwork inspired by the change that deciduous trees go though as the seasons change. We had some wonderful parent helpers - thank you! Come in and have a look at the finished product :)

Farewell Jasmine!

Jasmine has left our class to go back to China for a while, she is coming back in Term 3. We will miss her! We took one last photo as a class, aren't we a lovely (and slightly silly!) looking bunch!

Swimming Sports!

Today was Swimming Sports! It was our chance to showcase what we learned during our 2 weeks of Hilton Brown swimming earlier in the term. We all tried our best, even those of us her were a little nervous or very cold! I was very proud, well done everybody.

Reward Surprise!

This term our class has been earning cubes for good behaviour and responsible learning choices, and those cubes go in a jar. Last week we filled the jar right to the top! Wow that is a lot of good choices. As a reward, today we got a whole afternoon (until it was time to go to Mandarin) of free choice!! It was great to be able to choose whatever we wanted to do, and it was awesome for Miss Searle to have the chance to play with us to get to know us better. What fun!

Kelly Sports!

On Thursday, Kelly Sports came to our school to facilitate some co-operative games! This ties in with our topic of Ako - learning from each other. We had to co-operate with one another and work as a team. Lots of us find it hard to focus on 'trying our best' rather than 'being the best' so this was a good challenge for us. We had such fun at the same time!

Maths this week!

This week for our whole class maths warm up, we have been practicing our doubles facts. Doubles facts are when we add 2 of the same numbers together like 6+6=12 or 5+5=10. We have been joining in with a doubles rap from youtube which we have really enjoyed! We have also been talking about the difference between maths knowledge - knowing things instantly, and maths strategy - working things out. Knowing our doubles is maths knowledge we just have to have!

Gully Walk!

This morning Room 14 went for a walk through the deep, dark gully. We are going to write about what we saw, heard, smelt and felt in the gully in our writing times this week. We will be focusing on using interesting adjectives in our stories. We enjoyed our gully walk!
